Company Founder & Managing Director
Tom Mitchell, a reliable and hardworking individual, is dedicated to delivering exceptional results for his clients. Hailing from Maugherow, Co. Sligo, where he was born and raised on a farm, he took a bold step by relocating to Co. Dublin. It was in Dublin that he acquired his expertise and skills in construction while working as a truck driver for Benny Reilly. Tom’s unwavering drive for success prompted him to purchase his first truck at the beginning of 2000 and setting up as a sole trader.
From 2000-2007, Tom worked endlessly to make a name for himself in the tarmacadam industry. As the company started to grow beyond him, Tom decided to take the bold steps of converting the company into a private limited company. Thus, becoming the Mitchell Macadam Limited which is present today.
Over the course of the last twenty years, Tom and his exceptional team have collaborated with a shared objective: to offer the finest tarmacadam and asphalt services available in Ireland to our clients. Tom’s remarkable dedication to his work as well as the significant relationships that he has made with architects, engineers and quantity surveyors across the country has led to Mitchell Macadam becoming the success that it is today.
Project Manager
Noel Kinsella joined in 2008 as our Project Manager. Before joining Mitchell Macadam, he worked in another prestigious tarmacadam business for 10+ years where he gained his knowledge and expertise.
During the 2008 crash, Noel, like many others, chose to jump ship and join the team at Mitchell Macadam. Since joining the firm, Noel has developed into one of the company’s most important individuals and is credited with much of the company’s recent success. Noel has evolved into one of the most experienced and respected professionals in the industry as a result of his remarkable work ethic and drive for success.
As the company’s Project Manager, Noel is in charge of the handling and managing of all project undertaken by Mitchell Macadam. He has managed a number of notable projects, including the total resurfacing of the Citywest Industrial Park, Dunnes Stores carparks across Ireland, and the University College of Dublin campus.
Project Supervisor
Lorcan Lynch became a part of our team in 2020 in the role of Project Supervisor. Prior to joining Mitchell Macadam, he amassed over a decade of experience in the tarmacadam industry in Ireland, working with a reputable company. He also played a crucial role in establishing another tarmacadam business in Australia. During his tenure in Australia, Lorcan served as a Project Manager, overseeing a wide array of projects, including the management of over eighty employees and several large-scale projects.
Upon his return to Ireland, Lorcan joined our team at Mitchell Macadam, where he has played an indispensable role in the recent achievements of our company. His friendly and approachable demeanor, combined with his unwavering commitment to work, has been instrumental in successfully completing projects in recent years. Collaborating closely with Noel, Lorcan has contributed significantly to the management of several noteworthy projects, including the completion of shopping centers such as Aldi and Lidl, university campuses like UCD and Trinity, and the Keelings storage facility.
Project Estimator
In 2016, Ben Mitchell became a part of the family business, immersing himself in all facets of the company, from on-site work to assisting with office management. Between 2018 and 2021, Ben managed a part-time position as a Junior Health & Safety Officer while concurrently pursuing a BSc in Arts & Humanities at UCD. During his tenure as a Junior Health & Safety Officer, Ben was able to successfully completed the Project Supervisor in Construction Stage and the Managing Safety in Construction courses with the Construction Federation Ireland (CIF). Additionally, Ben collaborated closely with Tom and Noel to ensure the efficient and safe completion of various projects, including the resurfacing of the Citywest Business Campus and the M50.
After successfully earning his undergraduate degree, Ben decided to delve deeper into the workings of business by pursuing an MSc in Management at Smurfit Business School. Following the completion of this degree, Ben rejoined the company and assumed the role of Project Estimator, working in tandem with Tom and Noel to handle project pricing and execution.
Financial Controller
Stephen Moylan joined in January 2023 as Financial Controller. Before joining Mitchell Macadam, he has worked in finance for 23 years and held senior finance roles in road surfacing and IT services/software.
Stephen qualified as an accountant with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) in 2003 and continues to undertake continuous professional training and development each year to build on his vast finance and business knowledge.
As the company financial controller, he leads the finance team, supporting all the internal departments and liaising with customers. Stephen and his team are responsible for delivering management accounting, credit control, accounts payable, cash flow and organisational budgeting. Stephen really enjoys working at Mitchell Macadam because it has brought him a fresh challenge where he can apply the best of experience from his previous roles and his in-depth knowledge of the industry.
Stephen’s continued objectives are to shape the finance team and processes to provide the best possible support to the business as it continues its expansion strategy. He takes great pride in his role, and his team’s commitment, who show their passion regularly for ensuring our function adds value to the business and customers. Stephen is fully committed to the development of that team and making sure we are taking advantage of new processes and technology.
Health & Safety Officer
Mitchell Macadam welcomed its latest team member in 2023 with the appointment of Fanie Stander as our Health & Safety Officer. Fanie is known for his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that our work adheres to the highest health and safety standards.
Originally hailing from South Africa, Fanie accumulated his wealth of knowledge and expertise through his extensive experience in the mining industry. Furthermore, by completing an MSc in Multi-Cultural Project Management, Fanie gained the skills to manage large-scale projects involving people from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds. During his tenure in that field, he became increasingly aware of the daily risks and hazards faced by construction workers.
Since joining our company, Fanie has demonstrated a strong dedication to ensuring that all Mitchell Macadam employees are well-informed about the potential risks they may encounter during their workday. He achieves this through education and a wholehearted commitment. Moreover, to gain a deeper understanding of the Health & Safety aspects at Mitchell Macadam, Fanie has successfully completed the Project Supervisor in Construction Stage and the Managing Safety in Construction courses with the Construction Federation Ireland (CIF). Fanie is also actively pursuing a diploma in Health & Safety Management with the CMI.
